Group B Small Distributed Generation Block Reaches Capacity, Soft Close Period Initiated

< Back to Vendor Updates

The annual block of capacity for the Group B Small Distributed Generation block has been filled. Section B of the Program Guidebook provides for a soft close period which allows the block to remain open for seven calendar days or when the next project applications submitted to the block would exceed capacity by 10 megawatts.

For Program Year 2023-2024, 94.0 MW of capacity was allocated for Group B Small DG. No Program Year 2022-23 project waitlist existed in this project category and group, so the final capacity for Group B Small DG remained 94.0 MW for this Program Year. The block reached capacity at 3:19 p.m. CPT, Monday, February 5, 2024 when a batch submittal reached the 94.0 MW allotted for this group/category for the 2023-2024 Program year. The soft close period will begin today, February 5, 2024, and extend until February 13, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. CPT (as February 12 is an Illinois State Holiday honoring Abraham Lincoln’s birthday) or until 10 additional megawatts of capacity are batched and submitted to the Program. Currently, 94.07 MW have been batched and submitted to the Group B Small DG block including projects that comprised the waitlist.

The Program Administrator will announce if the 10 MW of soft close capacity is reached prior to February 13, 2024. Any applications batched and submitted to the Program under the Group B Small DG group/category after the soft close capacity is reached OR after February 13, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. CPT will be placed on a waitlist.

Once the soft close period has concluded, the Program Administrator will announce that the block is closed and post a waitlist publicly on the Program website. All subsequently submitted applications will be placed on a waitlist as the block will be considered closed. At this time, new capacity for this Group/category is planned for the 2024-2025 Program year and is expected to be available on June 1, 2024.
