Application Tips & Tricks – Ways to Prevent Need Info Request Resulting in Application Delays

  • The Program Administrator sends individual Need Info emails biweekly, detailing the information needed for verification. These emails will include a subject line in the following format: “Illinois Shines Need Info – [Part I/Part II] [Small/Large] DG Application [App ID]”. Each email is unique to the application’s needs. Please avoid creating separate threads that include multiple Need Info request cures in one summary.
  • Weekly AV project reports include Need Info notes, but emailing the Program Administrator separately with this information slows the process. To minimize delays, respond to the original Need Info email instead of starting a new message.
  • Overview comments may be used to explain changes, relationships, and discrepancies. Keep in mind that applications must still provide all necessary data in applicable fields, but comments can provide helpful clarification that prevent Need Info requests. Overview comments cannot be used to circumvent Program or application requirements.
  • Once the Program receives the required information to resolve the Need Info request the Program Administrator can resume application review. Please refrain from sending follow-up messages after cures are sent, as cures are processed in the order that they are received and each response resets your position in the queue and delays the review of your Need Info request. The Program Administrator will send confirmation when your response has been reviewed or additional information is needed.
  • If the Program Administrator requests information four times without resolution, the AV receives a final notice and has 45 days to respond. If the AV does not provide the required information, the application will be marked as “AV Non-Responsive.” During this period, a Program Sector Strategist will contact the AV to address the outstanding request(s). Ongoing inaction may result in a Program violation, outlined in the Consumer Protection Handbook.
