Group A Small Distributed Generation Soft Close Deadline Concluded October 3, 2023; Waitlist in Effect

< Back to Updates

As previously communicated, on September 26, 2023 the annual block of capacity for the Group A Small Distributed Generation block (comprising 40.00 MW) was filled. Section B of the Program Guidebook provides for a soft close period which allows the block to remain open for seven calendar days or when the next project application submitted to the block would exceed capacity by 10 megawatts. The soft close period began September 26, 2023, and closed October 3, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. CPT OR when 10 additional megawatts of capacity are batched and submitted to the Program prior to this date/time.

On Wednesday, October 3, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. CPT, the soft close calendar deadline was reached, prior to the submission of a limit of 10 additional megawatts of capacity through projects batched and submitted to the block. As a result, in accordance with the Program Guidebook, any applications batched and submitted to the Program under Group A Small Distributed Generation group/category after the soft close deadline will be placed on a waitlist. As of the conclusion of the soft close period, the total batched project capacity for Group A Small Distributed Generation is 49.16 MW.

The Group A Small Distributed Generation block is now closed, and a project waitlist for this category will be added to the Program website at https://illinoisshines.com/block-capacity-dashboard/ when it becomes necessary. At this time, new capacity for this Group/category is planned for the 2024-25 Program year and will be available on June 1, 2024.

As a reminder, the Agency released a recent announcement related to Program capacity in Group A (Ameren service territory), which provides more information on project installations while Group A capacity is exhausted for the 2023-24 Program Year.
