The Illinois Power Agency (IPA) prioritizes educating consumers about the decision to go solar and provides resources to help consumers understand the substantial benefits of going solar with Illinois Shines, including potential financial incentives, rigorous consumer protections, and more.
In Spring 2025, Illinois Shines distributed the 2025 Customer Satisfaction Survey to residential customers who had an Illinois Shines Small Distributed Generation solar project installed and Part II verified between December 1, 2023, and November 27, 2024. This brief survey was designed to help the Program understand customer experiences with Illinois Shines and with the solar companies with whom they contracted. Details, outcomes, and analysis were published in the 2025 Customer Satisfaction Survey: Results and Analysis report.
To gain additional insights, the Program conducted Customer Satisfaction Focus Groups with survey respondents who expressed willingness to provide additional feedback on their experiences. Today, the Program published the 2025 Customer Satisfaction Survey Focus Groups report, detailing participation, feedback, and analysis across nine focus group sessions held in October and November 2025 on three distinct topics: Leases, the Illinois Shines website, and Disclosure Forms.
